Groundhog's Day and 100th Day of School

Wow… February has been so busy!  There are so many fun events/holidays in February!!!  Here are some things my class did to celebrate Groundhog's Day and the 100th Day of School.

My students worked so hard on their Groundhogs.  We made predictions, read a story about Groundhog's Day (for the life of me I can't seem to remember the title right now…), and then created this project.  They predicted an imaginary story of what the groundhog would be doing now that we have 6 more weeks of winter.  Then they created a visual of his burrow.  I think they turned out great!  I have to shout out a big Thank You to pinterest for these inspirations.

Whew… we made it to the 100th day of school.  I am sitting here thinking how fast this school year is flying by.  My kids had so much fun creating their portraits of what they'd look like as 100 years old.  Then they wrote about what they'd be doing at 100 years old.  They came up with some very creative ideas.  They also created a picture with the digits 1 0 0 used in a picture and wrote about what they'd do if they had 100 dollars.

Here are some of my favorites from another class…  (I think they were sooo creative!)

We spent the afternoon on the 100th day of school completing some math challenges centered around the number 100.

100th Day Celebration!

Last Friday we celebrated the 100th Day of School.  Students came to school wearing 100 items of their choice.  Then the created their very own $100 bill.  We spend the afternoon reading a story, making patterns, designs out of the numbers 1-0-0, making paperclip chains to measure with, and enjoying a 100 snack:)
